How to get software projects from the US?

Home / How to get software projects from the US

When it comes to securing software projects and outsourcing contracts from the US, there are 2 methods primarily: Inbound and Outbound. Either they approach you or you approach them.

If your company is based in India, you already know how competitive the market is, right? The chances of a US-based IT company approaching you for outsourcing purposes are very less. I would say the probability is less than 1 percentage unless you are one of the top 10 IT companies in India.

What does this mean? It means you need to reach out to them. Well, before that, you have tons of work to do my friend!

Here are the 5 Steps to Follow to Secure Software Projects from the United States:

1. Create a kickass website

Your website represents your business. If your website doesn’t look great, that’s a big turn-off. Your potential client will immediately exit from your website if that’s the case. So you need to make your website look as stunning as possible. A great website doesn’t simply mean great design. Your website needs to be informative as well. You need to build a sense of trust in the visitor’s mind. Use the right colors, layout, and words. Also, don’t forget about the performance of your website. Minimize the loading time and try to keep it under 2 seconds.

2. Start Blogging

You need to create a separate page on your website for blogging. Post highly informative content here such as “Top 10 Website Development Best Practices” or “10 Ways to Improve App User Experience”. This is to show your potential clients or partners that you are an expert at what you do. Make sure your blog posts are SEO-optimized.

3. Increase Your Online Presence

Online presence is crucial because, even though we are going to focus on the outbound method here, when the potential client checks out your website, they would also search on google about your Company as part of due diligence. When they do this, your website shouldn’t be the only place talking about your company. Other pages should also appear in the search results. For that, you could start creating posts related to your company on various listing platforms, and other websites like Quora and Medium. You could also try guest blogging. These are some of the free sources of traffic too. Additionally, you could create social media pages for your company and start posting at least 2-3 times a week. I highly recommend Buffer for this purpose.

4. Build Your Portfolio

Building your portfolio is extremely important. You need to have a dedicated page on your website for this purpose. You don’t really have to showcase all of your projects here. Just showcase your top 20 projects. Yes, that would be enough for your potential clients to know the quality of your work. You can work on projects within your own country first to build your portfolio.

5. Send Business Proposals to the Founders of IT companies in the United States

Once you have completed the above 4 steps, you can start approaching IT companies in the US. Sending your business proposals to generic email addresses such as “info@domain.com” most probably won’t get you the business. You need to send your business proposals directly to the Founders or Decision-Makers of those companies. Let them know about your company and your services. Not some lower-level employee who receives similar emails daily. You can make use of the data provided by IT Leads to send your business proposals directly to the Founders or Decision-Makers of 3000+ IT Companies in the US. You also get access to 12+ Data Points per Lead.

The door of opportunity won't open unless you knock!
